Joseph Eilers has been involved in research and management of freshwaters for over 30 years. He holds a bachelors degree in biology from the University of California and a masters degree in water resources from the University of Wisconsin. He has worked as environmental engineer for the Association of Bay Area Governments in Berkeley, as a limnologist for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, as a senior scientist at the EPA research laboratory in Corvallis, OR, and as a private consultant prior to joining SolarBee. He is a certified lake manager (CLM) through the North American Lake Management Society, a registered fisheries biologist with the American Fisheries Society, and is a registered professional hydrologist through the American Institute of Hydrology (AIH). He currently sits on the board of registration for AIH.
Joe has authored 39 peer-reviewed manuscripts in various aspects of limnology and continues to conduct research examining the role of fisheries and hydrology in water quality degradation. He has expertise in applying paleolimnology, hydroacoustics, and hydrodynamic modeling to better understand the interactions of hydrology and biology in affecting water quality, particularly those involving cyanobacteria problems in lakes.
He joined SolarBee as regional manager for the Pacific Northwest where he continues to apply hydrodynamic modeling to explore mixing in lakes, wastewater lagoons, and drinking water reservoirs in addition to his duties representing SolarBee in the Northwest.
